Babybug

A satirical magic-realist piece exploring shame and a performative self. It portrays the tension of hiding parts of oneself to fit idealized romantic expectations, using comedic horror to amplify the discomfort of living with a distorted self-image.

Drawing on pop culture and familiar performative gain, the work reflects on self-hatred and underscores the absurdity of conforming to unrealistic standards rather than showing one’s authentic self.

Oversaw creative direction and music design while designing performer costume and hand-building the bug puppet, shaping the performance’s story, structure, and movement.
